• To activate the camera, press the capture key.
• To activate the secondary camera, activate the main camera, and select Options > Use secondary camera.

To leave the camera open in the background and use other applications, press the menu key. To return to the camera, press and hold the capture key.

When capturing an image, note the following:

• Use both hands to keep the camera still.
• The quality of a digitally zoomed image is lower than that of a non-zoomed image.
• The camera goes into battery saving mode if there are no actions for about a minute. To continue capturing images, select Continue.
• Do not cover the flash while taking a picture.

Three steps to taking a picture:

1. Activate the camera (press the capture key).
2. Press the capture key halfway down to lock the autofocus on the object.
3. Press the capture key all the way down to take the picture. You can also capture the picture by tapping : on the screen.

If the camera is in video mode, to switch from video mode to image mode, select : > on the screen.

To lock the focus on an object, press the capture key halfway down (not available in landscape or sport scene modes). A green locked focus indicator is displayed. If the focus was not locked, a yellow focus indicator is displayed. Release the capture key, and press it halfway down again. You can also capture an image without locking the focus.

After you have captured the image, there are a few choices in the active toolbar on the right:

• Send : Send the image via message, via Bluetooth or upload the picture online
• Share online: select the service provider from Ovi, Flickr or Vox. Please see more in Share online.
• Delete: delete the photo.
• Options:
1. Use image: Assign to contact, Set as wallpaper, Set as call image
2. Rename image
3. Go to Gallery

Turn on the camera's flash to take better close-ups in dimly lit areas. Using flash also helps to avoid blurry pictures.

Flash is set to Automatic by default, and it is used if the light level is not sufficient. You can also set it to:

• On – Flash is on with all the pictures you take.
• Reduce red – The light flashes before the picture is taken and reduces red-eye in portraits.
• Off

To make these selections, tap the Flash icon on the screen.

To zoom in or out of the picture, use the volume/zoom keys on your device. You can also slide the zoom slider on the touchscreen. Note that zoom enlarges the part of the picture you are zooming in on and using zoom can lower image quality.

A scene helps you to find the right colour and lighting settings for the current environment. The settings of each scene have been set according to a certain style or environment.

The default scene in image mode is Automatic, and in video mode Automatic (both indicated with ).

To change the scene, select > Scene modes and a scene.

To make your own scene suitable for a certain environment, scroll to User defined, and select Change. In the user defined scene you can adjust different lighting and colour settings. To copy the settings of another scene, select Based on scene mode and the desired scene. To save the changes and return to the scenes list, select Back. To activate your own scene, select User defined > Select.

You can automatically add capture location information to the file details of the captured material.

Select Menu > Applications > Camera.

To add location information to all captured material, select Options > Settings > Show GPS info > On.

Note!
The location information is available only for images captured with the main camera.

It may take several minutes to obtain the location information. The availability and quality of GPS signals may be affected by your location, buildings, natural obstacles, and weather conditions. If you share a file that includes location information, also the location information is shared, and your location may be visible to third parties viewing the file. The device requires network services to acquire location information.

Location information indicators:
— Location information unavailable. GPS stays on in the background for several minutes. If a satellite connection is found and the indicator changes to within that time, all the images captured and video clips recorded during that time are tagged based on the received GPS positioning information.
— Location information is available. Location information is added to the file details.
