Use WLAN

With WLAN you can connect your N86 to the Internet and browse the web pages as they are originally designed. Learn how to use the WLAN wizard and connect to the Internet. Also learn how to set up an access point inquiry.

Connect to the Internet with WLAN

Your device can detect and connect to wireless local area networks (WLAN). Using a WLAN, you can connect your device to the Internet. To use a WLAN, a network must be available in the location and your device must be connected to it. You must create an Internet access point (IAP) to use a WLAN connection. When the device is in the Offline profile, you can still use a WLAN, if available.

Use the WLAN wizard to create an access point

The WLAN wizard helps you to find and connect to a wireless LAN. When you open the application, your device starts to scan for available WLANs and lists them.

  1. Select Menu > Tools > Connectivity and WLAN wiz.
If the search finds WLANs, create an Internet access point. Scroll to the connection and select Options > Start web browsing.
    • If you select a secured WLAN, you will be asked to enter the relevant password. To connect to a hidden network, you must enter the correct network name (service set identifier, SSID).
  2. To end the active connection, select the connection > Options and Exit.

If you want to define whether you want to use the WLAN or packet data connection when starting to browse the Web, you can set it so that the device always asks which access point is to be used.
