Get familiar with compact qwerty

Your Nokia E55 features a compact qwerty keyboard with predictive input to help you write easier and faster than with a traditional phone keypad. With predictive input, you can enter any letter with a single key press. Predictive text input is based on a built-in dictionary.

Keyboard
  1. Function key. To insert a digit or character printed on the top of a key, press and hold the corresponding key. To enter only the characters printed on the top of keys, press the function key twice quickly. To return to normal mode, press the function key again.
  2. Symbol key. When writing text, press the symbol key to insert characters not shown on the keyboard.
  3. Space key
  4. Shift key. To switch between character cases and text input modes, press the shift key. To enter only uppercase or lowercase letters, press the shift key twice quickly.
  5. Enter key. To enter a line break where available, press the enter key.
  6. Delete key. To delete characters.
  7. Punctuation key. Insert punctuation characters.

Essentials without using the predictive text input:

  • One key press – You’ll get the first letter on the key.
  • Two key presses – You’ll get the second letter on the key.
  • Long press – You’ll get the character above the letters (for example, numbers and @)

Your device also has an onboard Keyboard tutorial, which gives you further practice and tips on how to write effectively. To access the Keyboard tutorial, select Menu > Help > Keyb. tutor.
