Work efficiently with the office tools: manage different files, create quick notes and translate with the dictionary.


Use Quick office to create and open files

Work with documents, spreadsheets, and presentations with the Quickoffice application. You can use Quickoffice to open message and e-mail attachments sent to you. You can view Microsoft Office 2000, XP, 2003 and 2007 documents (DOC, XLS, and PPT files). If you have the editor version of Quickoffice, you can also edit files and create your own files with your device.

Quickoffice consists of:

  • Quickword – for Microsoft Word documents.
  • Quicksheet – for Microsoft Excel spreadsheets.
  • Quickpoint – for Microsoft PowerPoint presentations.
  • Quickmanager – for purchasing software.


Work with files:

To open a file, select the file and press the scroll key.

To sort files by type, select Options > Sort by:

  • Name
  • Date
  • Size
  • Type


To view file details, scroll to the file and select Options > Details. Details include the name, size, and location of the file, and the time and date when the file was last modified.

To send files to a compatible device, scroll to the file, select Options > Send, and select the sending method:

  • Via message
  • Via e-mail
  • Via Bluetooth
  • Freestyle
  • Upload


Write quick notes with active notes

Create and delete an active note:

  1. Select the application shortcut from your home screen, or select Menu > Organiser > Active notes.
  2. Select New note and type the note you want.
  3. To add an object, select Options > Insert object, and one of the following:
    • Image
    • Sound clip
    • Video clip
    • Business card
    • Bookmark
    • File
  4. When your note is ready, select Done.
  5. To delete a note, scroll to the note and select Options > Delete.

Send the active note to a contact:

You can share and send your notes to colleagues and friends.

  1. Select the note, and select Options > Send.
  2. Select one of the following ways to send the note:
    • Via text message – the note is sent as a text message.
    • Via multimedia – the note is sent as an attachment to a multimedia message.
    • Via e-mail – the note is sent as an attachment to an e-mail message.
    • Via Bluetooth – the note is sent via Bluetooth connection.
  3. Give the details of your message, and select Options > Send.

Organise notes:

Create folders for your notes for easier and effective handling.

  • Create a folder – Select Options > Organise > New folder, and enter a name for the folder.
  • Move a note to a folder – Scroll to the desired note, select Options > Organise > Move to, and select the folder you want to move your note to.
  • Sort your notes - Select Options > Organise > Sort, and select one of the following: Date and time, Name, or Size.


Translate with the dictionary

You can translate a word from one language to another using the Mobile Dictionary application. In addition to the pre-installed language(s), you may download additional language dictionaries from the Internet. You can have English and two user-defined languages on your device at the same time. You may freely change the two languages according to your needs.

Download more languages for your Dictionary:

  1. Access the dictionary, select Menu > Office > Dictionary.
  2. Select Options > Languages > Download languages, and press the scroll key.
  3. Your E55 will connect to the Internet automatically and the Nokia Mobile Dictionary download page is shown.
  4. Select the language package to download, and follow the instructions on the display.

Remove a language from your dictionary:

  1. Access the dictionary, select Menu > Office > Dictionary.
  2. Select Options > Languages, and select Remove language.

Translate a word with the dictionary:

  1. Access the dictionary, select Menu > Office > Dictionary.
  2. Select Options > Languages, and define the source and target languages for the translation.
  3. Enter the word you are looking for in the Search field. When you start typing the word, suggested words to translate are displayed.
  4. To translate a word, scroll to it, and press the scroll key.

Tip!

You can also listen to the translated word. Select the word and select Options > Listen.
